If you’ve ever wanted to experience a true Croatian classic, our Bela Card Game Workshop is the perfect place to start. Bela isn’t just a game — it’s a cultural staple, a social ritual, and one of the most beloved pastimes across Croatia. Whether you’re completely new to it or you’ve only watched Croatians play with mysterious confidence, this workshop will open the doors to a world of strategy, fun, and friendly competition.

During the workshop, you’ll learn the basics of playing Bela, from the unique deck and card values to announcing combinations, choosing a trump suit, and playing your first hands. We’ll guide you step-by-step, making the game easy to understand and even easier to enjoy. Who can participate in CLA Socio-Cultural Activities?

Anyone currently learning Croatian at CLA can participate free of charge.

Is everything free of charge?

Additional individual costs like admission tickets, food or drinks need to be covered by each student individually.

Do I need to sign up for an activity?

Even though student participation in the activities is free, it is mandatory that you sign up at least a day in advance.

How do I sign up?

Inform your professor if you want to participate, and they will add you to the list.
