If you’ve ever heard a Croatian person stub their toe, argue with a parking machine, or watch a football match go badly—you already know: Croats elevate swearing to an art form. From poetic insults to inventive metaphors, Croatian cursing is a whole cultural experience… and we’re inviting you to learn it firsthand!

Join us for our Swear Like a Croat workshop, where you’ll dive into the funniest, most expressive, and shockingly creative curses the language has to offer—always in a friendly, respectful, and educational context, of course. You’ll learn when you can use them, when you shouldn’t, and why Croats sometimes swear even when they’re happy.

Expect laughter, cultural insights, and a whole new set of phrases that will make your Croatian friends proud. Come for the language lesson—stay for the creativity!

Who can participate in CLA Socio-Cultural Activities?

Anyone currently learning Croatian at CLA can participate free of charge.

Is everything free of charge?

Additional individual costs like admission tickets, food or drinks need to be covered by each student individually.

Do I need to sign up for an activity?

Even though student participation in the activities is free, it is mandatory that you sign up at least a day in advance.

How do I sign up?

Inform your professor if you want to participate, and they will add you to the list.
