Rakija tasting – workshop
20.11.2024.

Feeling sick, sad, cold or even happy? Take a sip of rakija, universal Croatian medicine which varies from region to region. Start your new intensive course cycle in the best way possible and join us in this fun workshop where we will learn about the importance of this spirit, its multiple usages and, most importantly, have a drink or two! Afterwards, we will vote and choose the best rakija!

Croatian State Archives – tour + coffee
27.11.2024.

Reserve your Wednesday for art and join us in exploring one of Zagreb’s most beautiful art nouveau buildings from the early 20th century. Architects, building constructors and art historians from all over Europe often pay this wonderful place a visit and stand in awe of it. We will take you on a guided tour of the archive’s most important rooms and afterwards discuss our impressions over coffee at the nearby Botaničar café.

Croatian House Materina priča –  visit + coffee
4.12.2024.

Did you know that it’s possible to see the 19th and 20th century Croatian etnographic heritage at the very heart of Zagreb? And all thanks to a very special Croatian house, Materina priča (Mother’s Tale)! Its unique programme provides visitors with various information, from secrets of old crafts such as licitar or čipka making to most interesting and specific folklore traditions. After the guided tour we will enjoy a hot cup of coffee at the famous nearby Špica!

Croatian Christmas Traditions – workshop
11.12.2024.

Christmas and its traditions hold a very special place in practically every Croatian household. Come December, we eat specific foods, bake certain cakes, use special decorations, watch certain films and – last, but not the least – spend every free moment with our loved ones with a cup of mulled wine in our hands. Join us in this on site workshop where we will learn which Croatian Christmas traditions have made their way up to today and how they function in different Croatian regions.

Zagreb Advent Walk
18.12.2024.

To wrap up the last intensive course of the year and to start celebrating Christmas, we will take you for a festive walk through Zagreb Advent in the Upper Town. The Upper Town is especially charming at this time of the year thanks to the choirs who sing Christmas carols outdoors under the magical lights of 150 years old Zagreb gas lights (lanterne). While listening to traditional Christmas songs, we will warm up with hot mulled wine and taste authentic snacks.
