Zagreb’s Upper Town represents a charming network of little streets stretching between two hills, Kaptol and Gradec. In opposition to energetic and vivid Lower Town, the Upper Town has a special, nostalgic atmosphere which reminds us of old times. Some of city’s most important sights are located here, such as St Mark Church, Stone gate, lots of interesting museums and Tower Lotrščak, where we will see the best panoramic view over Zagreb. The tower was built in the 13th century to guard the southern gate of Gradec town. Join us in discovering this beautiful, vintage part of Zagreb! Afterwards, we will enjoy drinks in one of the sunny terraces.
Explore the 19th and 20th century Croatian etnographic heritage in a special Croatian house at the very heart of Zagreb, Materina priča (Mother’s Tale). Its unique programme provides visitors with various information, from secrets of old crafts such as licitar or čipka making to most interesting and specific folklore traditions. After the guided tour we will enjoy a hot cup of coffee at the famous nearby Špica!
There is no better way to start your day than to explore hidden, artistic parts of Zagreb. Beautiful exterior of the Academy of Fine Arts, charming antique market Britanac and a serene, uphill meadow Rokov perivoj will feed your appetite for culture. Afterwards we will talk about our impressions over a cup of coffee (and some cake, of course!) at Tuškanac.
Every culture has its traditional drink – rakija is definitely Croatia’s. Whether you are feeling sick, sad, cold or even happy, the Croatians will offer you this ‘nectar of gods’ as an universal medicine. The only difference that varies from region to region is the taste, which can be herbal or fruit based. Join us in this fun workshop where we will learn about the history and importance of this spirit, its multiple usages and, most importantly, have a sip or two! Afterwards, we will vote and choose the best rakija!
