This movie is based on a wonderful comedy play set against the backdrop of charming and innocent pre-World War II Zagreb. The film revolves around the main character and heartthrob bachelor Mr. Fulir who is madly in love with another man’s wife. In order to keep his true sentiments hidden he pretends to be interested in the wife’s best friend and in doing so is forced into friendship with his flame’s moronic husband.
Guided tour of the library + drinks @ Spunk
Explore the Zagreb University library whose history dates back to 1607. Now located at one of the city’s entrances, this modern cubical library stands as one of Zagreb’s most recognizable landmarks since 1995 and is a focal point for all students of the Zagreb University. We will take you on a tour of the library and its records as well as sit down for a drink at one of the local, student frequented cafes.
Guided tour of the Croatian State Archives + coffee and snacks
Explore one of Zagreb’s most beautiful buildings from the early 20th century. The building of the Croatian State Archives to this day stands as the leading mansion of the Croatian art nouveau. It is often a subject of expertly visits by architects, building constructors and art historians from all over Europe. We will take you on a guided tour of the archive’s most important rooms and afterwards discuss our impressions over coffee at the nearby Botaničar cafe.
Visit to the ethnographical exhibition “Materina priča” + coffee “na špici”
The ethnographic collection of the Croatian House “Materina Priča” provides visitors with a unique programme aimed at all visitors who want to get to know the folklore traditions and customs of Zagreb and its surroundings which are presented by folklore ensembles through song and dance. Visitors will also become familiar with some old crafts, such as “licitar” making, the famous lace craft of Lepoglava and various specialties of traditional cuisines.
A fun walk through the Zagreb Christmas festivities
To wrap up the last intensive cycle of the year we will take you for a fun walk through the Zagreb Advent festivities. Whether you prefer tasting authentic Christmas food, warming up with hot mulled wine, or participating in the festive games and activities, Advent time in Zagreb is a beautiful moment you cannot avoid being a part of.
Anyone currently learning Croatian at CLA can participate free of charge.
Additional individual costs like admission tickets, food or drinks need to be covered by each student individually.
Even though student participation in the activities is free, it is mandatory that you sign up at least a day in advance.
