APRIL & MAY 2025 - SOCIO-CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

Speed up the development of your language skills by participating in the Socio-Cultural Activities program and have a great time while doing it.

30 April – Swear like a Croat vol. 2

Are they being metaphorical or are they insulting you? You have definitely experienced this dilemma while talking to Croatians. Swear words might be a tricky part of a language, but one can’t do without them! Moreover, being able to properly curse in a language is a sign of a higher language skill. After a very successful workshop that focused on some basic Croatian swear words, we have organized the second edition of this popular event, where you will upgrade your knowledge. Join us and master your (impolite) Croatian!

7 May – Zagreb City Museum tour

Join us in the exploration of the history of Croatia’s capital in the Zagreb City Museum, founded in 1907 in the charming Upper Town by the Society of the Croatian Dragon. The Museum’s permanent exhibition will show you the past of the City of Zagreb from prehistory to present day and it will portray it in every important aspect, from history, politics, economics, architecture to art and everyday life. After the tour of the Museum we will sit and relax over a cup of coffee in one of the sunny terraces.

14 May – Archaeological Museum tour

After a long break, Zagreb’s impressive Archaeological Museum is open for public tours again. The Museum, situated in beautiful Vranyczany-Hafner Palace in Zrinski Square, counts over 450,000 different artefacts that were collected from different sources. Even though most of the monuments are from territories that belong to the Croatian national territory, among them are some artefacts whose significance goes far beyond the limits of local or regional heritage, such as the Egyptian or Greek and Roman collection – the ones that we will see with professional guidance.

21 May – Mother’s Tale visit

Explore the 19th and 20th century Croatian ethnographic heritage in a special Croatian house at the very heart of Zagreb, Materina priča (Mother’s Tale). Its unique programme provides visitors with various information, from secrets of old crafts such as licitar or čipka making to most interesting and specific folklore traditions. After the guided tour we will enjoy a hot cup of coffee at the famous nearby Špica! Join us!

28 May – Hidden Kvart Walk

Discover some of the hidden gems in the western part of Zagreb’s city center. Join us in a short guided walk that will take you to from Britanac to some beautiful, lesser known spots. Afterwards we’ll wrap up our impressions over a cup of coffee (and some cake, of course!) at Tuškanac.
