Step into Zagreb’s living history at Kula Lotrščak, a 13th-century fortress that once guarded the city’s southern gate and now invites you to climb its narrow steps for some of the best views in town. Every day at noon, listen for the famous Grički top cannon blast—a quirky local tradition that has marked the middle of the day for more than a century and is a delight to experience in person. From the top, the city spreads out with its red rooftops and winding streets, making this a perfect stop for great photos and memorable moments.
Dive into the heart of Croatia’s cultural heritage at the Ethnographic Museum. With thousands of traditional costumes, tools, musical instruments, and everyday objects on display, this museum brings to life the rich diversity of Croatian folk traditions—from the Pannonian plains to the Adriatic coast. From beautifully detailed folk costumes to objects used in daily life, this visit offers a warm and engaging glimpse into the country’s cultural roots—both past and present.
Our visit begins at the former home and studio of Ivan Meštrović, one of the most influential sculptors of the 20th century, whose monumental works are displayed around the world. From The Bowman and The Spearman in Chicago to The History of Croats in Zagreb and major commissions across Europe and the United States, Meštrović’s art helped shape modern sculpture on a global scale. After exploring the intimate space where these ideas took form, we’ll head just a few steps away to Caffe Bar Abesinija, a favorite Upper Town café—perfect for relaxed conversation, reflection, and soaking in the local atmosphere after an inspiring cultural stop.

This isn’t your typical museum—it’s a heartfelt, quirky, and unforgettable look at love, loss, and the stories we carry with us. Each quirky object on display was donated from people around the world as a physical memory of a past relationship—from funny and strange items to deeply emotional keepsakes—each with its own anonymous story that reveals something universal about connection and letting go. It’s a playful but poignant stop that invites smiles, laughs, and maybe even a little reflection on your own loves and losses.
